HOW TO KEEP YOUR HOME CALM AND ORGANIZED
Now more than ever, we find ourselves in a new relationship with our homes and wondering how they can help us cultivate calm. For many of us, this is a stressful time, and the prospect of being cooped can be overwhelming. However, our homes can be wonderful sources of inspiration and comfort. Whether this takes the form of decluttering, organizing, or simply finding balance in the day to day, there are several ways you can take to claim calm in your space.
Here are six tips to get your home more organized:
1. Be Patient With Yourself
First thing first, take a deep breath and tell yourself you can get through the mess! Don’t get discouraged and feel shame! Just like any skill set, learning to keep order at your home takes time and there will be days when the mess overtakes! Just commit to do your best and be patient with yourself!
2. Organize Your Bedroom
To have a good start in the morning, make your bed right after you wake up and put way any clothes in your closet. Set a timer for 5 min to complete this task. Whatever else you couldn’t put away simply fold neatly and place them on your bed or chair. This way your room is immediately organized, you will feel good for accomplishing this task and you condition your mind to repeat this task everyday.
3. Do 15 min Organizing and Cleaning Session
Setup 15 min in the a.m and p.m to do a quick organize session and clean your kitchen, living room and kids playroom. This is a quick way to clean up and organize without feeling too overwhelmed.
4. Sort Trafficked Areas
Go over trafficked area, reevaluate the things you need in those spot and try to reduce them to avoid having a cluttered space. In the kitchen, have your most used cooking products/items placed on the countertop. The rest of the items should be stored in the cabinets. Have your spices and non-perishable items organized in containers for better view of what you actually have. In the bathrooms, have your most essentials hygiene and beauty products placed in containers on the countertop. the rest of the items should be organized in bins and stored in the cabinets. In the entryway, have a place to store all your mail, keys and shoes.
5. Put on Your Favorite Tune
Listen to music while organizing your home! You will be in a better mood and get things done faster!
6. Use Hooks and Fixtures on Blank Walls
There’s a lot of wasted space in homes that can be utilized for extra storage. If you go about it the right way, your storage solutions will look like works of art.
Use hooks and fixtures on walls to store hats, tools, scarves— everything that doesn’t quite fit in a drawer. You can hang pouches to store shoes or wires from which to hang jewelry.
